SEO friendly URL structure and parameter guide

What is a base URL?

URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator and serves as a document website. Enter the URL in the address bar of your browser and you will be redirected to the desired web page. You can split the URL into several parts to take a closer look. For example, the following URL represents a site with four main sections. A protocol is a system used to transmit text and information over the web. The most common forms are HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol).

A domain name is the name of a website such as eBay, Expedia. A top-level domain (TLD) refers to the text after the "period" in a URL, e.g. .com, .gov or .org.
Top-level domains classify the domain by type (educational, commercial, government) or by geographic location, such as B. .uk, .au, .ru etc. Positive effect on search engine optimization. A path is the text behind a TLD that identifies the specific location (usually a subfolder, category, or landing page) on the site where the page is located.

URL parameters
URL parameters are additional elements in a URL that are used to filter or sort the content of a web page.
They can be identified by a question mark (?) followed by an equal sign (=) and a number. Common uses of URL parameters include: Sort pages into a gallery Sorting pages of items in the e-shop Search results from the website's internal search engine UTM for tracking campaigns Basics of managing URL parameters. There are cases where multiple URLs with different parameters can lead to duplicate content, which Google explains here.
This is the example they used to display 3 URLs on the same page with the same content:
URL in SERP URLs appear in search engine results below the title and above the description. For this reason, URLs need to be clean and easy to read to attract more clicks. Long, confusing URL strings are unappealing and can distract potential site visitors from clicks. The URL is also the location of all the inbound links that go through search engines to identify the most important pages on your website.

How to Create a URL Structure for SEO
There are several ways to optimize your URLs for SEO. The best way to plan an effective URL is to consider the big picture of your site. The structure of your sitemaps and categories will ultimately affect your incoming URLs.
1. Plan categories based on search To make your URLs more appealing to users, you need to name them with keywords in mind. This means asking important questions about the main categories of your website. When deciding on categories, you need to ask yourself: Are they directly related to your company's products/services? Is it related to popular searches? What terms do people use when looking for competitor services? If people know how to search your service, you can structure your categories and URLs to target common search terms.
2. Keep it simple using the URL. The simpler it is, the better. It starts with a simple category, but goes deeper into your site. Simple usually means shorter, shorter URLs are easier to read and less confusing. Being able to read a URL aloud makes it easy for strangers to read and understand. According to Brian Dean and John Lincoln, SEO-friendly URLs require 1-2 target keywords and 1-2 directories. Everything else can be confusing or hard to read. Therefore, you should either create directories with descriptive names and "dynamic URLs" or, if possible, avoid URLs with long numeric strings at the end.
